Satellite Data

Our satellites scan your fields with remote sensing technology

Everything has a specific spectral signature. Our satellites take pictures of crops and analyze their spectral bands to calculate their health and fertilizer needs.

Your fields are scanned for their spectral signatures. Then, geometric, radiometric and atmospheric calibration takes place, ensuring high quality. You can compare your crops’ performance across time for each service we offer.

Using Synthetic Aperture Radar, a type of microwave technology, Vultus can penetrate clouds. We can guarantee at least two images a week - meaning you will always have quality data from us, regardless of cloud cover.

Nitrogen Recommendations

We calculate precision nitrogen recommendations

The intra-field variations of your crops are measured using spectral, zone and spatial analyses. These are then compared with your current nitrogen spread, the latest international research in nitrogen distribution and historical data to give a variable-rate nitrogen application recommendation. This is accurate down to 10 metres, and you can download this recommendation straight to your ISOBUS enabled tractor.

Our nitrogen recommendations are designed for wheat, barley, rapeseed, maize, millet, rye, bran, sorghum, and potatoes. We are constantly studying and adding new crops.

Plant Health

We analyze your crop's health

Using multispectral analysis, we detect crop stress before it becomes visible, giving you more time to act on the issue.

Your crop health is calculated using three different performance indicators – Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Modified Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (MSAVI), and Red Green Blue (RGB). Triangulating these data sets means your crop health is hyper-accurate. With updates multiple times a week, you can easily detect issues, improve your field scouting and monitor the effects of fertilization, treatment, irrigation, etc on your crops.

Using the same multispectral analysis, we calculate the Normalised Difference Water Index (NDWI). This helps you to readjust your irrigation plan, especially useful after extreme weather events - such as droughts or unseasonal rainfall.
